General
1. What is the role of ELSO in this initiative?
The Extracorporeal Life Support Organization (ELSO) is an international non-profit consortium of health care institutions who are dedicated to the development and evaluation of novel therapies for support of failing organ systems.
ELSO Supplies connects health care institutions in demand of critical care equipment (i.e Requesters) with other institutions that can provide the needed equipment (i.e Suppliers).
ELSO Supplies is a link between Requesters and Suppliers, and whether the service agreement is to donate, swap/trade, or borrow equipment, ELSO Supplies is solely non-profit and not held liable for any exchange.
2. In which countries does ELSO Supplies function?
ELSO Supplies is currently active in the USA in partnership with ELSO centers listed in the ELSO-registered centers page.
3. How can I register for ELSO Supplies?
ELSO Supplies incubates suppliers of medical equipment and suppliers that can temporarily benefit from equipment provided by registered suppliers.
You can register as a supplier by going to the Home page, clicking on ‘Register as a Supplier,’ and follow the registration instructions.
If you have registered as a Supplier, a registration request approval would be needed before active registration, and you will be notified by email once the request is accepted.
4. Can I be registered as both a Supplier and Requester?
Yes, you can. By default, a Supplier can also request items in ELSO Supplies acting as a Requester, however, a Requester cannot be registered as a Supplier.
5. Can I change from a Requester to a Supplier?
If you registered as a Requester and would like to change to a Supplier, you only need to go to the home page, and click on the ‘Register as a Supplier’ button. By then, you would already have an account that permits you to be upgraded directly without creating a new account. If this is the first time you join ELSO Supplies, and would like to register as a Supplier, then you would be asked to create a new account when clicking the ‘Register as a Supplier’ button.
6. How can I request equipment?
The request type refers to the type of request process agreed-upon between a Supplier and a Requester on ELSO Supplies. There are three request types:
- Swap: a Requester swaps items with the Supplier for a specified period of time.
- Donation: a Requester requests items from the Supplier for free.
- Borrow: a Requester borrows items from the Supplier.
You can specify your preferred request type in the notes section when checking out an order. We will try our best to fulfill the request accordingly.
